Know Which LPs Will Re-Up Before They Do

Archstone scores every LP relationship across 7 engagement signals — capital call responsiveness, communication engagement, co-invest participation, meeting attendance, referrals, and NPS. You see who's a champion, who's disengaging, and exactly what to do about it.

You won't know an LP is gone until they don't show up for Fund II

The hardest part of fundraising isn't finding new LPs — it's keeping the ones you have. Most emerging GPs have no system for measuring LP relationship health. You send quarterly reports and hope they're reading them. You issue capital calls and assume the check will arrive. You mention co-invest opportunities and wonder why nobody bites. Then Fund II comes around and three of your largest LPs pass. You never saw the signals.

The signals were there. The LP who stopped opening your emails six months ago. The one whose capital call payments went from same-day wire to 28-day check. The family office that declined every co-invest opportunity. Each of these is a data point that, in isolation, means nothing. Taken together, they paint a clear picture of disengagement.

Archstone tracks all of these signals automatically and computes a 0-100 engagement score for every LP in your fund. Each LP gets a health status — Champion, Engaged, Passive, At-Risk, or Churning — along with a letter grade, commitment probability, and specific recommendations. When an LP's score drops below a threshold, you get an alert with exactly what changed and what to do next. The GP who reaches out to a “Passive” LP with a personalized update keeps that relationship. The one who waits until Fund II asks for the check doesn't.

7 engagement signals, weighted and scored

Capital call responsiveness

25%

How quickly do they pay capital calls? On-time rate and average days to payment are the strongest predictors of LP commitment. An LP who goes from same-day wires to 20+ day payments is telling you something.

Communication engagement

20%

Email open rates, portal login frequency, document views, and response time to your messages. An LP who hasn't logged into the portal in 90 days isn't engaged — regardless of what they say on your annual call.

Commitment size

15%

Commitment amount relative to your fund target. Larger relative commitments indicate stronger conviction. A $1M commitment in a $10M fund signals more than a $50K check in a $50M fund.

Co-invest participation

15%

When you surface co-investment opportunities, do they participate? LPs who co-invest are deeply engaged and almost always re-up. LPs who consistently decline may be losing interest in your strategy.

Meeting attendance

10%

Annual meeting attendance, quarterly call participation, and ad-hoc meeting requests. LPs who show up to your events are invested in the relationship, not just the fund.

Referral activity

10%

Has the LP referred other potential investors to your fund? Referrals are the highest-signal engagement indicator. An LP who refers others is a champion who believes in your thesis and your execution.

NPS score

5%

Direct satisfaction feedback from NPS surveys. A low NPS score combined with declining engagement signals is a strong churn predictor. A high NPS with strong engagement confirms a champion relationship.

Five health statuses. Actionable recommendations for each.

A

Champion

Score 80-100. Highly engaged. Ask for referrals and co-invest interest.

B

Engaged

Score 60-79. Solid relationship. Maintain cadence and surface opportunities.

C

Passive

Score 40-59. Declining engagement. Send a personalized update or schedule a call.

D

At-Risk

Score 20-39. Multiple disengagement signals. Reach out directly and address concerns.

F

Churning

Score 0-19. Critical. This LP is unlikely to re-up without immediate intervention.

Frequently asked questions

How soon do I see useful engagement data?

Engagement scoring starts working as soon as you have LP activity data in Archstone. Capital call history, email opens, portal logins, and meeting records all feed the score. Most funds see actionable insights within the first quarter of use as the system builds a baseline for each LP.

Can LPs see their engagement score?

No. Engagement scores, health statuses, and recommendations are visible only to the GP in the Archstone dashboard. LPs see their own portal — fund details, capital calls, documents, and reports — but never their engagement score or health classification.

What triggers a churn alert?

Archstone monitors score changes over time. A significant drop (e.g., from Engaged to At-Risk) triggers an alert with the specific signals that changed — such as missed capital calls, declining portal activity, or co-invest opt-outs. You get the context to act, not just the alarm.
